In a big day for the Nets franchise where Mikhail Prokhorov visited the Barclays Center for the first time in many months, the current Nets got a bit of bad news. Gerald Wallace, who injured his leg after dunking on Sunday against Cleveland, will miss tonight’s game because of a strained hamstring. Also, in unexpected news, Gerald Green had oral surgery done today and is a game-time decision.
The Gerald’s have been a very big part of the Nets’ good play of late and if the Nets are without them for tonight’s game, their chances of winning the game take a huge hit. This is also costly because both of these players play the small forward position, and if neither of them plays, the Nets have nobody else. Either Anthony Morrow or Deshawn Stevenson will move into the starting lineup, and the Nets bench will be very weak. If Morrow starts at small forward and Green doesn’t play, the Nets bench will feature Deshawn Stevenson, Jordan Williams, Johan Petro, Sundiata Gaines, and Armon Johnson. What a disaster that will prove to be against a very deep Sixers team.
Hopefully Gerald Green will play and start, but if he does not, I don’t the Nets have much of a chance of winning this game.
