Thanks to Mirza Teletovic, newly acquired forward from Bosnia, the Nets have gained financial flexibility that will allow them to offer better contracts to Dwight Howard, Brook Lopez, Ersan Ilyasova, and/or Kris Humphries. Teletovic was originally set to accept a $5 million first year salary that would prevent the Nets from exceeding the salary cap limit; however, Teletovic agreed on Wednesday to accept a $3 million first year salary because the Nets front office nudged him to do so.
Before Teletovic agreed to this, I was feeling very dubious about the Nets being able to acquire Howard. Now, getting Howard seems much more possible. According to reports, the Nets recently offered Brook Lopez, Kris Humphries, and their 2013, 2015, and 2017 first round draft picks to the Orlando Magic in exchange for Howard. According to reports, The Magic have not accepted this offer because they do not want Kris Humphries. Now, the Nets need to find a third team to take on Kris Humphries and send a different player to Orlando.
