Ersan Ilyasova, a strong power forward who the Nets were targeting this offseason, is reportedly set to sign a 5 year contract with the Milwaukee Bucks. This is good news for Kris Humphries because it increases his chances of re-signing with the Nets this summer. This news may also cause GM Billy King to focus more on trying to acquire 38 year old center Marcus Camby, a rebounding machine. The Bucks were committed to re-signing Ilyasova and it should not be a surprise to Nets fans that Ilyasova is remaining a Buck.
Ilyasova had a breakout year and was kind of a Nets killer this past season. In two Bucks wins against the Nets, Ilyasova put up 29 points and 25 rebounds and 17 points and 17 rebounds. Ilyasova speaks Russian, like Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov and a large portion of Brooklyn’s population. At the right price, Ilyasova could have been a nice fit in Brooklyn, but it wasn’t meant to be.
