Olympics 2012: Team USA Crushes Tunisia

Deron Williams

In Team USA’s second Olympic game, the Americans defeated the Tunisians 110-63. The game was never close, but the Americans took their biggest lead in the third quarter when they outscored their opponents 39-14. Tunisia does not have any NBA players, so it is not surprising that the US won by so many points.

Because of the fact that this was a blowout, the US did not have to play their best players for too much of the game. It was a well-balanced effort with every player scoring at least one basket. The scoring leaders were Kevin Love and Carmelo Anthony, each with 16 points. Kevin Durant also had 13, and Anthony Davis, who has never even played an NBA game yet, scored 12 on 5-5 shooting from the field.

For the Nets, Deron Williams scored 9 points and had 4 assists in 15 minutes. He was 3-5 from the field and hit a 3 off the bench.

The Americans knew that this game would not be much of a challenge and the more important games are still ahead of them. The next game for Team USA will be on Thursday at 5:15 PM vs. Nigeria, who is led by NBA players Ike Diogu and Al-Farouq Aminu. This should be another fairly easy game for Team USA.
