Bye Landlord! Shelden Williams Signs in France

Big man Shelden Williams, who played for the Nets last season, has signed a contract with Elan Chalon of the French League. He may never play in the NBA again. Active on defense (and Twitter), Williams was a very lovable Net and we will certainly miss him.

Last season, Shelden a.k.a. “The Landlord” averaged 4.6 PTS, 6.0 REB, and 0.6 AST. His impact went beyond the scoreline, though, as he was an important hustle player. He was remarkably good at saving basketballs going out of bounds by jumping up, grabbing the ball, and throwing it off an opponent’s foot and out of bounds, resulting in a Nets throw in. He was also a consistent defender, probably more so than any other Nets big men last season.

Off the court, The Landlord is married to Candace Parker, WNBA superstar, and also has a baby girl. He will probably miss them while he is away in France.

He may not miss them too much because Candace plays overseas in the WNBA offseason. Shelden really saved the Nets last season after the Lopez and Okur injuries. I am not surprised he did not re-sign with Brooklyn; he is much more of a New Jersey Net than Brooklyn Net.
