Donte Greene Fractures Ankle, Nets Signing on Hold

In three successive Tweets, Marc Spears is reporting that recently signed Nets backup SF Donte Greene suffered some type of ankle fracture last week while practicing in Charlotte. As a result, his signing with the Nets is on hold and he will require surgery.

Pending MRI results will determine how long Greene’s recovery time will be. The Nets’ contract with Greene is non-guaranteed and if the MRI results are unfavorable, Greene will miss out on an opportunity to make the Nets roster. This opportunity may be his last ever to play in the NBA.

We were very pleased with the Nets’ signing of Donte Greene, because it is a low risk acquisition and Greene is tall at 6’11”. This week, Jonah wrote a profile of Greene here and I wrote an upbeat post about Greene here. Donte Greene must be very anxious about his upcoming MRI.
