Charles Barkley Weighs in on Nets-Knicks

Charles Barkley

Charles Barkley was at a golf tournament on Monday just outside New York City, and of course reporters were there to ask him questions about the NBA. According to Newsday, Barkley had plenty to say about who the best team in New York is. When talking about the Nets, Barkley said, ”I like their team. I like their team a lot. I think they probably have got the best team in New York”. Barkley likes the moves the Nets made in the offseason. The Knicks, on the other hand, did not get good grades from Barkley. He said, ”they must think it’s 1995. It’s 2012. They went out and got 92-year-old Jason Kidd and 92-year-old Marcus Camby.” Additionally, the Knicks also got Kurt Thomas, who is older than either Kidd or Camby.

Barkley joins a growing number of NBA commentators and reporters to claim that the Nets did more to improve and will be a better team than the Knicks next season. However, the Nets have not won anything yet and have not made the playoffs in 5 seasons, while the Knicks made the playoffs each of the last two seasons. We will get our first look at which team is better on opening night, November 1st, when the Nets host the Knicks at the “Barkley’s Center”.

Last season, I watched Barkley’s and Shaq’s show a lot and they never, ever talked about the Nets. I’m glad that’s about to change.
