Friday night will be the first time the Nets play a competitive game against each other when the white squad will take on the black squad at the PNY Center in New Jersey. The teams were decided by a draft by coaches Mario Elie and Popeye Jones. Avery Johnson will be watching the scrimmage. Coach Avery wanted to keep Deron Williams and Joe Johnson together to get as used to playing with each other as possible, but the rest of the rosters were drafted.
The white team, coached by Jones, will be Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, Josh Childress, Mirza Teletovic, Andray Blatche, Keith Bogans,Stephen Dennis and James Mays. The black team, coached by Elie, will be C.J. Watson, Marshon Brooks, Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries, Brook Lopez, Toko Shengelia,Carleton Scott, Reggie Evans and Jerry Stackhouse. Tyshawn Taylor will be the only player not participating because of an injury.
This should be a pretty competitive and close game. The white team may have two all-star guards, but the black team has more depth and height. Media will not be allowed to watch the game, so don’t expect any tweets or updates throughout the night.
The next Nets event will be an open practice on Sunday at the Barclays Center, the first time the Nets will take the court in Brooklyn.
