Third year Nets power forward Kris Humphries has struggled when defending against athletic forwards. Coach Avery Johnson told the press this week that his starting lineup is not set in stone. He also said, “we struggle when teams start off with small fours. I’ve had different instances with some of my other teams where I’ve had to change lineups here and there just to cover for some of our weaknesses.” Coach Avery seems ready to adapt his starting lineups when opposing teams are starting certain types of small forwards.
Of course if Coach Avery decides to use Kris Humphries off the bench some nights, other starters will have to collect more rebounds. In particular, Gerald Wallace will have to be ready to crash the boards regularly and Brook Lopez will have to remember to box out his man.
Aside from scoring the first ever Brooklyn Nets preseason points, Humphries has had a quiet preseason. He had 2 PTS, 5 REB, and was a -15 against the 76ers.
