Brooklyn Nets Opening Night Tickets to be Historically Expensive

The Nets have turned from the laughing stock of New York sports teams 6 short months ago into the hottest ticket in town. If you want to go to the opening night matchup against the New York Knicks one week from today, you will now need to pay at least $250, and that’s if you want to sit in the worst seat in the house!

On the popular ticket website Stubhub, tickets are selling for an average of over $800 each for this much-anticipated game. This will be the most expensive game in New York since the Yankees were in the World Series in 2009!

Last season in New Jersey, one was easily able to find tickets as cheap as a single penny on Stubhub, but we will definitely not be seeing that this season. For example, if you look at a typical Nets home game this year (against the Golden State Warriors in December), the cheapest ticket is $16 and the cheapest lower level ticket is about $100. Last season, fans were able to buy lower level tickets behind the basket for as little as $1 and tickets in the lower center sections for as little as $5.

We are definitely not in New Jersey anymore.
