Deron Williams received an injection in his ankle today for ankle synovitis and will likely miss two or three days of practice. Avery Johnson said that the injury is not serious and hopefully non-recurring, but the team doctors may have to check on it throughout the season. Because Williams was out, C.J. Watson ran the first team unit while Tyshawn Taylor took over the second team’s duties.
In addition to Williams, Josh Childress, Andray Blatche, and Keith Bogans all sat out of practice on Friday due to various injuries. None of them are serious, especially compared to some of the injuries the Nets’ opening night opponents will have. However, the Knicks did receive some good news today as Tyson Chandler’s injury is not nearly as bad as some thought it was and he is probable for opening night.
Even though Deron received this ankle injection today, it is not slowing him down. Deron will be a guest on Jimmy Fallon tonight at 12:30 AM where he will talk about the Brooklyn Nets and the NBA. Additionally, multiple Nets will be on Jimmy Kimmel Live next week when the show airs episodes from Brooklyn.
