The Brooklyn Nets have announced that Deron Williams will miss the team’s final two games before the all-star break at Indiana and vs. Denver. Deron will be getting treatment in both of his ankles during that time so that hopefully he will be healthy for the second half of the season. D-Will has been dealing with injuries, especially ankle injuries, the entire season, so this will give him over a week off to recover.
This is a smart move for Deron and the Nets. There is no reason for him to play if he is not healthy. The Nets are hoping that Deron’s disappointing play this season is due to his injuries and not something worse like an overall decline in his game. Brooklyn is hoping that they will get the “Utah Deron” back in the second half of the season and that he will help the team make a playoff run.
In the meantime, it is hard to imagine Brooklyn winning either of their final two games before the break without Williams. If they lose both, they will carry a nasty 4-game losing streak heading into the break.
