Deron Williams broke the NBA record for 3-pointers in a half Friday night as he hit 9 in the first half against the Washington Wizards. Deron finished the half with 33 points on 12-15 shooting from the field and 9-11 from 3. In fact, he missed a very good look at the buzzer of the second quarter which would have given him 10 at halftime.
In the first quarter, Deron was 7-7 from deep for 23 points. At one point he was outscoring the entire Wizards team 18-2 while the Nets had a 24-2 lead. After sitting down at the end of the first quarter and beginning of the second quarter, Deron came back in to hit 2 more 3′s in the second to break the NBA record for 3′s in a half, which had been held by many players.
There is still a whole half of basketball to go and if Deron Williams continues to play, there is a good chance of him breaking the NBA record for 3-pointers in a game. The Nets lead the Wizards 59-33 at halftime, and with an important game tomorrow night in Atlanta, P.J. Carlesimo might decide to rest his starters for most of the second half.
