Me and my best friend growing up were talking and he said, ‘Man, what if you win a championship in Brooklyn? Then what?’ It’s another level then. There’s a chance I could move up in the [all-time] ranks if I get another championship. So I am still going.
Pierce, who will turn 36 next month, probably has one or two years left of being a high impact player in the NBA. This upcoming season might be his best opportunity to win a championship in Brooklyn, particularly because he is going to have a very good supporting cast. He also talked about how strong the Nets roster is and his excitement for playing in Brooklyn:
- “They’ve given me more tools and I’ve got something to build.”
- “I’m excited about playing in Brooklyn. There weren’t too many places I wanted to go if I had to leave Boston, but Brooklyn is one of them.”
Pierce is signed to a four year contract with the Nets, although at his age it is unlikely he will play in Brooklyn that long.
