Brooklyn Nets Head To Washington For First Preseason Game

Deron Williams, John Wall, and Joe Johnson

Brooklyn Nets basketball is finally back! Tonight, the Nets head south to Washington to face the Wizards in the first preseason game of the year. It will start at 7 pm eastern and will be televised on YES. Even though it is only a preseason game, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce will be playing and this will be our first chance to see them in black and white rather than green.

The Nets have a couple of minor injuries that will keep a couple of players out. Deron Williams continues to take things slowly with his ankles and will not play. Jason Terry and Toko Shengelia are also out, but Terry would probably play if this was a regular season game.

Because of these injuries (mainly Deron Williams’s), it will be difficult to judge this team on tonight’s game because Deron is such a key player as the point guard. Replacing him will be either Shaun Livingston or Tyshawn Taylor in the starting lineup. Both point guards expect to receive a good amount of minutes.

Don’t expect any player, especially some of the older veterans like KG and Pierce, to play more than 15 or 20 minutes. Even though teams want to develop chemistry in the preseason, the most important thing is staying healthy and not getting tired before the regular season starts.

The team Brooklyn will be playing is Washington, who expects to contend for a playoff berth for the first time with John Wall leading the way. The Wizards have a nice young core of Wall, 2nd year guard Bradley Beal, and rookie Otto Porter Jr. It is very possible that we can be seeing a 1st-round playoff preview between these two teams tonight.

FRWD will be tweeting updates throughout the game and have a recap posted shortly after. Enjoy the game!
